Gin Martini

Gin, dry vermouth and green olives, stirred until properly ice-cold.

COCKTAIL

1 DRINK

MARTINI

ABOUT THE DRINK

A gin martini is simple enough to expose every shortcut, so the chill matters. Gin and dry vermouth are stirred over plenty of ice until sharp, clean and silky, then finished with olives for that properly grown-up Friday night feeling.

THE POUR

Ingredients

60 ml gin
15 ml dry vermouth
Ice, plenty
Green olives, to garnish

Method

1.

Fill a mixing glass or large sturdy glass with ice.

2.

Add the gin and dry vermouth.

3.

Stir for 20 to 30 seconds, or until the outside of the glass feels very cold.

4.

Strain into a chilled martini glass.

5.

Garnish with one or two green olives and serve immediately.

SAMANTHA'S NOTES

Chill the glass

Stir with patience

Stir for 20 to 30 seconds over plenty of ice. You want the drink cold and silky, not watery.

A gin martini should be properly cold. Chill the glass before you start so the drink stays sharp from the first sip.

Choose your garnish

Olives give a savoury finish. Use one or two good green olives and serve immediately while the martini is still ice-cold.
